TABLE OF CONTENTS

Instructors can organize learners into subgroups. Create, view, and edit the subgroups from the 'Manage Learners' tab.

Create a Subgroup

  • Select 'Manage Learners' from the left hand navigation menu.
  • Select the 'All Learners' drop down menu.
  • Select 'Create Subgroup'.
    • Create a name for the subgroup, then search and select learners for the subgroup.
    • Create random groupings by selecting the checkbox and setting the number of subgroups. Learners will now be randomly assigned to one of the subgroups.
    • Once you have finished creating the subgroup, select 'Create subgroup' to save.
    • Your learners will see any content that is marked for 'All learners' and for their subgroup.

View Subgroup

  • Go to 'Manage Learners'.
  • Select the subgroup from the 'All Learners' drop down menu.
  • The table will populate with current progress information for the learners in the selected subgroup.

Edit Subgroup Members

  • Select the subgroup from the All learners drop down menu and select the edit icon.
    • Edit the subgroup name or subgroup members from within the subgroup.
    • Add a learner to a subgroup by searching for the learner's name and selecting the check box next to their name. Confirm to save the learner to the subgroup.
  • When saving subgroup changes a message will appear stating, "Reminder: Removing learners from this subgroup means they will lose all access to the content assigned to this subgroup.". This is referring to any activities that have been assigned to the subgroup.
    • For example, if subgroup 1 has been assigned a specific version of a quiz and you move a learner from subgroup 1 to subgroup 2, the learner will lose the progress on the quiz that was specific to subgroup 1. The learner will now see all activities that are specific to subgroup 2. This will not apply to activities that are assigned to 'All Learners'.
  • This is a great way to assign different versions of an assessment.

Delete a Subgroup

  • Select the subgroup from the 'All Learners' drop down menu.
  • Select the edit icon.
  • To delete, select 'Delete subgroup.'

Assign to a Subgroup

Assign activities to a specific subgroup within the content building blocks.

  • Create the activities using the lesson content builder. Before saving the content block use the 'All learners' drop down option to select a subgroup. Select 'Save' to save the activity and subgroup assignment.

  • Instructors can also edit the subgroups or create a subgroup from this drop down.
  • Edit the subgroup assignment by choosing 'Edit' in the content title bar and using the drop down to edit your selection and select 'Save.'
